Mandalay Beach spur trail

A 300 metre spur trail allows walkers to access a lookout with views over Mandalay Beach and across to Chatham Island.

Directions

Follow the Bibbulmun Track north from the Mandalay Beach carpark. Veer left off the main Track - the spur trail is signposted. Follow to the lookout. Return the same way.

Diversions & Other Impacts

Prescribed Burn Diversion – Northliffe

Location: Northcliffe to Dog Pool Campsite

The Bibbulmun Track is closed for 51.8km due to prescribed burning.

Parks and Wildlife in Pemberton have advised that it will remain closed through to  March 2025 as there are several pockets of unburnt areas as well as a high concern for flare-ups.

A 37.2km diversion is in place along the Munda Biddi Trail and Deeside Coast Road.

Gardner and Lake Maringup Campsites are closed.

A temporary campsite is in place at Boorara Tree with potable water and toilets.

Please note that there is no sleeping shelter and walkers will need to use their tents.

For your safety DO NOT enter any closed trail, even if there are no indications of prescribed burning activity. Stay on the marked diversion and follow all signage or instructions from Parks and Wildlife staff.

Walkers should be aware of fire operation vehicles and other traffic in the area.

Campfires Prohibited – Northcliffe

Location: Northcliffe to Walpole

As of 3 December 2024, campfires are prohibited for all Bibbulmun Track campsites between Northcliffe and Dog Pool Campsite due to fire risk.

  • Gardner (currently closed)
  • Lake Maringup (currently closed)
  • Dog Pool 

Please note that an all-year round campfire ban applies to all other campsites:

  • Mt Chance
  • Woolbales
  • Long Point
  • Mt Clare
