Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsThe Bibb was an incredible experience for me, long time nature lover but first time hiker, learnt so much about myself and the possibilities in life. The beauty of the country over here was far beyond my expectations, overwhelming at times. The disconnect from civilisation felt so refreshing, in some ways like a total brain reset, a return to the more fundamental aspects of what being human is all about. A journey I'll never forget.
Your Best Equipment
Umbrella as there were showers most days.
Your Worst Equipment
Rain pants were unnecessary and chafed.
Advice for Others
Just go, you'll figure it out.

- - 99% used BT maps & compass, as a backup plan I had OsmAnd app with GPS files I downloaded for free off Parks & Wildlife website.
Your Experience
- Availability of information: Excellent
- Amount of Wildlife Encountered: Poor - Surprised by how little wildlife I saw. Northern sections were dead quiet except for a few roos and black cockatoos, guessing due to all the bushfires and backburning. Alot more birds down south but not much else. Overall 3x Emus, 2x cats, 1x snake, 1x newborn turtle on Torbay beach!, countless yabbies & frogs in Pingarup plains. Zero echidnas, goannas, lizards, whales or dolphins. Oh yeah and 1x bigfoot sighting (probably a roo..)
The Pingerup Plains were incredible, like nothing I've ever seen before, untouched, uniquely Australian feel. Then over the dunes down to Mandalay beach, unforgettable feeling arriving at the ocean after so long in the forest. The whole south coast blew me away, epic scenes at every turn.
Highlight of your trip
The simplicity and beauty of being out in nature, having a single focus, being disconnected from the complexity and immediacy of civilisation.
