Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsMy first thoughts on doing the walk were over 20 years ago when we first took the children to Walpole, saw the 'signs' and heard about this walk being completed from Kalamunda to Albany. Circumstances dictated that it was only in the last 3 years that it felt 'right' to do it
Your Best Equipment
Boots with toe socks and wool socks, light walking trousers and shirt which dried quickly, and my knife and washing line!
Your Worst Equipment
Can't think of anything that would qualify as worst. I changed my back pack and sleeping bag at Dwellindup which made life more comfortable!
Advice for Others
Join the Bibblmun Foundation. Attend as many workshops as you can fit in for food, equipment, first aid etc. Do a couple of 'overnighters' to get the feel of what's involved with experianced workshops. Buy the best ( and lightest) equipment you can afford. Respect the track; some sections are only 8km long, but that is normally for a very good reason.
Trip Details
How you completed the Bibbulmun Track:- All at once
- Who did you complete the Track with? Solo (primarily)
- Was undertaking your hike the PRIMARY/MAIN purpose of your TRAVEL from where you currently live? No
Your Experience
They all were. Been asked that question and can't name one; however, when you leave the forest and see the ocean for the first time, unbeleivable. Then you walk 4 hours in 38deg along a beach and up soft sand dunes, and you come back to normality
Highlight of your trip
Wednesday 16th October 2019; met Joanna who I was sharing with and her dad who was supplying her with stuff. Made me a cup of tea with real milk and a ham sandwich on home made bread with real butter!
