Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsThe experience was not what I expected, but very wonderful. Very challenging, spectacular landscspe and flora, wonderful support through track maintenance and huts, unexpected great connections with other hikers, all up it was a quite meaningful personal experience.
Your Best Equipment
Home made ‘sit-upon’ sitting mats. A piece of old hiking mat. Fly net.
Your Worst Equipment
Wrong shoes. Very sore feet.
Advice for Others
Make sure your shoes are as supportive as you need. Invest in lightweight gear. Leave all your toys behind and be prepared to only walk. Its enough.

Your Experience
- Availability of information: Excellent - Info was excellent, but the guidebooks seemed a bit out of date and we found the track notes and directions confusing, and sent them home after 2 weeks. The extra info on flora and geology snd history was great.
- Amount of Wildlife Encountered: Good - Father emu with chicks. So many beautiful snakes. A distinct lack of wildlife in northern sections.
That is almost impossible to answer. Red tingle trees vs coastal vistas, vs paper daisies on granite outcrops, vs spectacular burnt country.
Highlight of your trip
Red tingle trees. And the first coastal vista, southbound.
