Track Towns and Supplies
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? Yes
- We posted food parcels (cheaper to send in satchels available from post office) to Visitors Info Centres, but plenty of supplies available along the way. Walkers well catered for in all track towns. Dehydrated food and gas available at all Visitors Centres.
Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsCongratulations to all involved in the design and maintenance of this world class track. The website is a great help for walk planning and general information.
Your Best Equipment
Western Mountaineering sleeping bag and Altra Lone Peak trail runners.
Your Worst Equipment
Thermarest Uberlite sleeping mat which was very comfortable, but died a slow death (was replaced by Thermarest).
Advice for Others
Travel as light as possible. Everything you leave out will make your walk easier and thus more enjoyable. Don't over-cater and don't obsess over food supplies. There's a town every few days.
