Go, Steve! The FACET Golden Guide Finalist of BTF

We are thrilled to announce that BTF Lead Guide, Steve Sertis, is a finalist for the 2024 FACET Golden Guide Award.

Steve has been guiding tours and walks on the Bibbulmun Track since 1999 and his continued enthusiasm and passion for the Track and the environment it passes through is infectious.

He has introduced thousands of people to the joys of bushwalking in WA’s South West over the years through a broad range of events designed for all ages and fitness levels.  From camp cooking with kids to showcasing the highlights of the Track to international visitors – the feedback from participants is consistently excellent.

2023 was the 25th Anniversary of the ‘new’ Bibbulmun Track and, in addition to other events and tours, Steve led an incredible two-month journey along the length of the Track from Kalamunda to Albany.  Ten other walkers completed the end-to-end hike with him whilst 83 walkers joined them for a section ranging from three to seven days.

The journey was a great success and the feedback received from everyone involved was outstanding.  Steve’s good humour, patience and passion for the natural environment shone through.

He is a fabulous ambassador for Western Australia and would be a very worthy recipient of the FACET Golden Guide Award for 2024.
