Bush regenerates after 2012 Northcliffe fire
6 April 2013
Over a year after the bushfire, the Track near Lake Maringup campsite, south of Northcliffe, is regenerating very well.
On the recent Rivers and Boulders Expedition, from Northcliffe to Walpole, walkers got first-hand experience of the regenerative power of the bush. The grass trees, zamias and eucalypts were flourishing. Of particular note were the abundantly fruiting emu bush (bush plums) which the emus were obviously feasting upon.
The fire did not affect the campsite thanks to the work of fire-fighters and most other infrastructure such as bridges and boardwalks have been repaired.
This spring promises to be a bumper wildflower season along this section of the Track.
