A bit of variety for Blackwood Field Day

After the planned field day at Noggerup Campsite was cancelled due to access issues, a team of 17 volunteers descended on the Golden Valley Tree Park south of Balingup to assist the local Friends of Golden Valley group. Friends of Golden Valley founder Andrew Thamo joined us for the day and directed our efforts to where assistance was needed.

It was a great day of networking with others, with a variety of tasks ranging from pruning of cherry trees and spreading woodchips, to pulling up 14 garbage bags of cleaver weed, the latter being something the volunteers will not readily forget!

Of course, there was a mandatory bridge that needed oiling – a task that fell to Mel and Wendy.

Special thanks to Stelle from DBCA Blackwood District, who coordinated the late change of venue for the field day plus arranged most of the equipment used.
