Want to introduce your young ones to the beauty of the Bibbulmun Track but don’t know where to begin? Discover the best Track walks for kids and find plenty more to see and do with our family-friendly itineraries.
Ranging from two to six days, each itinerary includes suggestions for relatively short, family-friendly day walks on the Track, as well as fun activities and attractions in and around the Track Towns.
Pick one itinerary or join them together to create a Bibbulmun Track adventure the whole family will enjoy.
Itineraries
Darling Range Discovery (Kalamunda to Dwellingup)
Less than an hour from Perth, the Darling Range is the perfect place to begin your Bibbulmun Track family adventure. Follow the Track though the peaceful jarrah and marri forests of Beelu National Park, take a train ride through the trees in Dwellingup and climb, splash and paddle your way through Lane Poole Reserve.
Time: 1-3 days

- Experience life in the 1890s at the Kalamunda History Village.
- Take a dip or paddle a canoe on the Murray River in Lane Poole Reserve.
- Wander high above the trees on the Forest Discovery Centre treetop walk.
- Climb, zipline or even aerial skateboard through a forest obstacle course at Dwellingup’s Trees Adventure.
Forests and Valleys (Collie to Donnelly River Village)
On this three-day Track adventure you will explore Collie’s dams and valleys, meander over the rolling hills of Balingup and venture into the karri forests of Donnelly River Village – with plenty of stops to swim, snack and spot friendly wildlife along the way.
Time: 2-3 days

- See trees from all over the world in Golden Valley Tree Park.
- Meet the friendly, local wildlife of Donnelly River Village.
Kids in the Karri (Pemberton to Northcliffe)
Follow the Bibbulmun Track on an adventure-packed journey into the majestic karri forests of Pemberton and Northcliffe. Along the way, you will pass beautiful waterfalls, take a train ride through the towering trees of Gloucester National Park and climb the world’s tallest lookout tree – if you dare!
Time: 2-4 days

- Swim in the tree-lined Pemberton Pool or Big Brook Dam.
- See and hear the stories of the forest on the Understory Trail.
- Visit the unique, landlocked Yeagarup Dunes
Giants Trees to Southern Seas (Walpole to Albany)
Discover some of the Bibbulmun Track’s most spectacular scenery on this six-day family adventure. Meet the giants of the tingle forest in Walpole, cross the pristine beaches of Denmark and explore the incredible coastline and historic sights of Albany.
Time: 2-6 days

- Get a bird’s eye view of the forest on the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk
- Swim in the crystal, clear waters of Greens Pool.
- Pat an alpaca, goat, lamb or bunny at Denmark Animal Farm.
- Walk beneath the giant turbines of Albany Wind Farm.
- Experience the power of the Southern Ocean at The Gap, The Blowholes and Natural Bridge in Torndirrup National Park.
- Climb to the top of Castle Rock for an incredible view from the Granite Skywalk.
What does my family need for a daywalk?
If you and your family are planning to explore the Bibbulmun Track, we recommend that you:
- Wear sturdy walking shoes, comfortable clothes and bring a weatherproof jacket.
- Take a watch, wear a sunhat and use sunscreen.
- Pack a bottle of water (1-2 litres depending on distance, terrain and weather).
- Pack insect repellent and a basic first-aid kit and blister kit.
- Pack plenty of snacks to keep little ones’ energy levels up.
- Purchase a National Parks pass if entering a National Park. You can buy one online.

What kind of transport do we need?
Our itineraries are designed to be self-driving trips, so you’ll need a car or vehicle.
What ages are the walks suitable for?
The walks included in our family-friendly itineraries are aimed at all ages and fitness levels, unless specified otherwise. When choosing a walk, consider your child’s bushwalking experience and allow plenty of time to stop and rest along the way.
What accommodation is available?
You will find a variety of family-friendly accommodation in every Track Town, ranging from campsites and caravan parks, to hotels and chalets. We recommend booking ahead, especially during summer and school holidays when these popular towns can get very busy.
