Track Towns and Supplies
- How many days did you stay in Track Towns? 6
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? No
- All the trail towns were very well stocked but they were sometimes quite expensive. I would send food resupply boxes if you’re on a tight budget or have dietary restrictions or are just picky. Otherwise the trail towns have perfectly adequate resupply options.
Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsTravelling northbound was a direction that we didn’t realize was unpopular until we arrived here. However I wouldn’t change this as it allowed us to experience the very best of the trail first (ocean views, red tingle and Karri forests). As we headed north we felt the forests were increasingly less spectacular, more monotonous, burned, and with more industrial scars on the landscape. Although we left the worst for last (in our opinion of course), I feel that there is a certain authenticity in observing human impacts on our landscapes and to reflect with sadness on what splendor may have existed prior to this exploitation.
Your Best Equipment
My cork ball for rolling out my arches at the end of a long day. Small, light, and necessary to keep my feet happy
Your Worst Equipment
My down puffy pants. Definitely not needed in November in Australia!
Advice for Others
Make sure you eat well! Food is an amazing pick me up on an hard day and is worth a few extra pounds of weight in your pack. Always make sure you’re packing enough chocolate and bring some fresh veggies (cucumber and lettuce survive surprisingly well unrefrigerated!)

Your Experience
- Availability of information: Excellent
- Amount of Wildlife Encountered: Excellent - My husband and I were enjoying breakfast on the trail in the sand dunes when a kangaroo popped its head up about 10m from us. He was a big male and must’ve been napping when he awoke to a couple of humans making coffee in his usual stomping grounds. He wasn’t threatened by us at all and proceeded yawn, then stuck his belly out while scratching it, then switched to scratching his butt. We quietly sipped our coffees and watched him during his morning routine, thoroughly entertained.
The red tingle forests were spectacular. I’ve never been in such awe of the girth of these trees and their ability to survive despite being burnt from the inside out.
Highlight of your trip
Waking up at 5am to the absolute cacophony of birds in the Karri forest sections.
