Join us for an overnight walk packed with a range of theoretical and practical exercises to keep you safe on the Bibbulmun.

This event focusses on a wide range of subjects relating to bush survival and walking the Track. The event is run by Steve Sertis, Foundation Events Manager and Lead Guide. Steve has been involved with the Bibbulmun Track since 1998 and has walked it many times end-to-end.

There are a number of theoretical as well as practical exercises that we will engage in as a group over the course of the event.

The best part of booking an event with us is that all profits go back to the maintenance of the Bibbulmun Track – you should be proud!

We only walk 2km each day carrying our overnight packs (food, clothing, stove, tent etc). The distance is short to give us the maximum time to focus on our activities on Saturday which include:

  • Map and compass reading with a night walk, off-track night navigation, a longer off-track day time navigation exercise and finding emergency exits
  • First Aid basics and poison plant identification
  • Water treatment and procurement methods
  • Bushfire survival
  • Fuel stove use
  • Tent siting and more.

Participants will require a sound level of fitness and be prepared to walk through the bush, off-track in the night in a small group.

We finish early on Sunday morning.

Included perks:

  • Expert advice from the Bibb Track specialists from preparation, adjusting your pack to setting up your tent.
  • Comprehensive trip preparation notes including directions to the meeting point.
  • Trained and experienced Bibb Track guides.
  • Your own Bibbulmun Track map to keep for your next walk.
  • Equipment hire, including backpack, stove, mat, sleeping bag, and tent. Pick up and return from our conveniently located office in West Perth.
  • Guidance on your food preparation. BYO food.

Hi folks. I have been with the Foundation since 1997, when I first joined as a member and maintenance volunteer. I wanted to get involved in the ‘new’ Track after getting terribly lost on the ‘old’ Bibbulmun Track. From there I began leading walks and then came on staff in the office in 1999 as Events Manager and Lead Guide. I love walking and have done a few end-to-ends. I really get a kick out of sharing this passion with everyone. I am still a volunteer and look after Nerang Campsite. Come and join me on this event!
