Track Towns and Supplies
- Did you have any issues finding food/supplies? Yes
- Consider cold soaking to save weight. While it might sound off putting, it is actually okay. Posting resupplies ahead to post office, visitor centres and accommodation works well.
Your Story or Advice for Others
General CommentsWonderful track maintained by a bunch of dedicated volunteers. Met many lovely people, especially as I was walking the "wrong" way. A great experience and well worth the effort in terms of preparation and in doing it.
Your Best Equipment
Walked the whole track in Luna sandals and my feet finished in great shape.
Your Worst Equipment
Nature Hike sleeping bag was not warm enough, although sleeping in my puffer jacket solved the problem.
Advice for Others
Go as light as possible while still being sensible and without breaking the bank. There are plenty of great ideas out there in forums and on YouTube. Going lighter means you can cover more ground on many days, which means less food to carry between resupplying, which means a lighter pack, and so on. Really makes a difference for those of us who are getting on a little in years.
