My equipment has changed over time from being too heavy to super light. A Luci rechargeable light has proven a great asset.

Spend money on light gear, its worth it once out on the track. Buy a dehydrator and do your own food. Dont race: walk within your capacity and enjoy the track for what its worth. Enjoy the diversity of vegetation, the flowers and the company of other walkers.

Sitting around a campfire discussing peoples experiences, comparing gear and food, hearing the joys and woes of being in the bush and traversing the track.
