Social Sunday Walk – Brookton Highway to Canning Campsite

  • When: June 16, 2024 9:00 am to June 16, 2024 3:00 pm
  • Where: East of Armadale - check your web account after booking - East of Armadale | Section/s: The Darling Range
  • Rating: Intermediate | Category:

Today we walk approximately 17km return from the Brookton Hwy to Canning Campsite.

The campsite is named so due to its proximity to the upper reaches of the Canning River.

A highlight of today’s walk is Abyssinia Rock. The Track passes the base of it this massive granite outcrop. Take the opportunity to go up to the low but still worthwhile peak.

Canning Campsite has picnic tables, a typical Bibbulmun Track shelter, water tank and a bush toilet (BYO toilet paper!).

The best part of booking an event with us is that all profits go back to the maintenance of the Bibbulmun Track – you should be proud!

Included perks:

  • Expert advice from the Bibb Track specialists.
  • Trained and experienced Bibb Track guides.
  • A fun and social atmosphere to enjoy the Bibb and get to know other walkers.

During the week a mild mannered public servant who will take any opportunity to get out on the Track, it’s a far better existence than my previous life sent deep under the Worlds Oceans – the scenery not great!! I have been walking the Track now for 15 years and have completed a sectional end to end a few years ago I also am a maintenance volunteer for the Mt Cuthbert and Mt Vincent sections.

Hello! I am a retired “ex-schoolie” who was introduced to the Track in 2003 and have been volunteering with the BTF since 2004. Starting as a maintenance volunteer for Canning campsite, I became a volunteer guide and an office volunteer.
I have completed five end-to-ends, including the first registered “double e-e”. Whether it’s planning a walk, cleaning ‘my’ campsite, pruning track-side vegetation, carrying my pack on Track, or simply sitting around a campfire chatting to other walkers, I love all aspects of “Bibbulmun Therapy”!
