Aerial baiting commences

The Department of Environment and Conservation, as part of the Western Shield wildlife recovery programme, will once again begin aerial fox baiting in March. The baits contain a naturally occurring toxin (1080). Baited areas should be considered toxic to pets at all times of the year. These baits will kill domestic dogs and cats. Owners of domestic dogs or cats should not allow their pets to enter baited areas, even on a leash. The Bibbulmun Track passes through baited areas, so please consider their livelihood and leave pets at home. For more information on Western Shield click here.
